Petal Loop Stitch Crochet Ornament Pattern
The Petal Loop Stitch Ornament turns a plain plastic ball into a textured, heirloom-feeling keepsake. It works up fast in worsted weight, it is endlessly giftable, and the petal texture looks far fancier than it is to make. I made a whole bowl of them in reds, greens, and cream before I could stop.
This ornament cover is worked flat in rows, so there is no fussy working in the round. You crochet a small piece of fabric in the Petal Loop Stitch1, seam it into a tube, then weave the yarn through the open ends, pop the plastic ornament inside, and cinch each end closed. That is the whole magic of it. Dress it up with a length of twine and a few beads, or leave it simple.
Comes in four sizes plus fully adjustable instructions, so you can cover whatever plastic ornaments you already have on hand. Whether you want one statement piece or a coordinating cluster for a wreath, this one is a joy to stitch.
