Reed Crossover Stitch Crochet Book Cover
The Reed Crochet Book Cover is a made-to-measure crochet cover that fits whatever book is in your hands. No predetermined sizes, no locked-in stitch counts. You take two quick measurements, do a little math, and you’re off. The result is a fitted, reversible lace cover that slips on and off from the spine side and keeps its shape beautifully in cotton.
The cover is worked flat as a single rectangle in the Reed Crossover Stitch, a two-row repeat of double crochet and single crochet that produces an open, lace-meets-mesh fabric. Once the rectangle reaches height, you fold each short end inward to form snug inner pockets, then work a row of single crochet along the top and bottom to lock the folds in place. The pattern also includes an optional Tunisian carrying strap and a button closure for books that travel with you.
The pattern includes a Standard Book Size chart (mass-market paperback through large nonfiction and Bible) so you can chain and go without measuring at all if your book is a common size.
